Project Overview:
Inside Feels is a transformative project that addresses individuals' challenges in recognizing and differentiating their emotions. Focusing on neurodivergent individuals, including myself, I conceptualized an app that continuously prompts users to explore and capture their emotional experiences. By actively engaging in an interactive "emotion-identifying bingo" game, users document photos and identify patterns, fostering a deeper understanding of their emotions. Completing the game allows users to reflect on past situations associated with specific emotions, making it easier to identify and manage those emotions in the future. The app features a user-friendly interface, including an emotion wheel that encompasses six primary emotions: anger, sadness, fear, surprise, joy, and love. Users can leverage the wheel to accurately identify and process their feelings, enhancing self-awareness and self-compassion. Additionally, the interface incorporates a gallery, enabling users to revisit their identified emotions and providing accessible reminders of their emotional journey.
User Need Statement:
A college student seeks an effective method to track their emotions as part of their therapy treatment. The "emotion-identifying bingo" game within Inside Feels allows them to document photos and identify patterns, facilitating more significant insights and understanding of their emotional experiences.
Immersing myself in the creative process, I hand-illustrated every bingo space in this innovative project. As a human-centered designer and advocate for mental health, I wanted to infuse a touch of artistry and personalization into the game experience. By investing time and care into each illustration, I aimed to capture the essence of emotions and create a visually engaging and meaningful journey for the players. The hand-illustrated bingo spaces add a unique and charming aesthetic to the game and reflect my dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail. Through this artistic endeavor, I invite users to delve into a world where emotions come alive through the stroke of a pen, fostering a deeper connection and understanding of their own emotional landscape.
Conclusion:
Inside Feels is a testament to my expertise as a human-centered designer and advocate for mental health. By reimagining the traditional game of BINGO into an engaging and interactive app, I empower individuals to acknowledge and navigate their emotions safely and enjoyably.
